Originally owned and operated by Textile Hall Corporation, the Palmetto Expo Center was purchased by the City of Greenville in September 2001 and is managed by SMG.

As part of its management agreement with the City of Greenville, SMG also operates a show management division for the purpose of producing the Greenville Boat & RV Show, Summer Boat Blowout and Holiday Fair.
